Discover Scuba Diving (No License, DSD, Try Scuba) Guide
This guide explains the Discover Scuba Diving / Experience Diving Program at Dive Story Moalboal.
1. Program Type and Eligibility
Who Is This Program For?
Discover Scuba Diving is a program for people who do not hold a scuba diving certification.
Fun Diving is for certified scuba divers.
If you only hold a Freediving certification, you cannot participate in regular fun diving.
Restrictions
Discover Scuba Diving cannot be conducted at night.
The maximum depth for Discover Scuba Diving is 12 meters.
Minimum Age
Age 10 and above:
Anyone aged 10 or older can participate.
There are no specific restrictions based on height or weight.
Ages 8 and 9:
Children aged 8 or 9 may participate with a maximum depth of 4 meters.
Depending on the circumstances, they may also be able to participate without using a full set of personal diving equipment and may rely on the Divemaster's equipment while being guided.
Minors
Parental or legal guardian consent is required for minors.
The parent or guardian does not necessarily have to dive with the minor, but we recommend that they participate together whenever possible.
If the parent or guardian does not dive, they must remain at the shop until the minor has completed the dive.
If the dive is conducted by boat, the parent or guardian must accompany the minor on the boat.
The boat accompaniment fee is PHP 500 per person.
Medical Conditions
We cannot provide a medical opinion regarding whether you are fit to scuba dive if you have:

Additional Costs

The basic Discover Scuba Diving program is all-inclusive.

What to Bring
You can come without bringing anything and still participate in the dive.
However, it is helpful to bring the following if you have them:
A simple shower is available at the shop, but hot water, towels, and toiletries are not provided.
2. Duration and Schedule
Shore Discover Scuba Diving
Approximate total duration for one dive: 2 hours.
Boat Discover Scuba Diving
Approximate total duration for one dive: 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Actual Underwater Time
Actual underwater time is approximately 30–40 minutes.
The actual duration may be shorter or longer depending on the participant's:

Morning Boat Diving
Morning boat diving is normally conducted as two consecutive dives.
If you book only one dive, or if you participate only in the second morning dive, you may have to wait on the boat during the time of the dive you are not participating in.
You must arrive at the shop by 8:00 AM.
After completing the two morning boat dives, the boat normally returns at approximately 12:30 PM.
The morning schedule is not necessarily limited to two consecutive dives.
If you would like to do only one boat dive and return to the shop afterward, please let us know after making your reservation.
We will take your request into consideration when arranging the boat schedule.
Afternoon Boat Diving
As with the morning schedule, afternoon boat diving is normally conducted as two consecutive dives.
You must arrive at the shop by 2:00 PM.
If there are fewer than four divers booked for the afternoon, the afternoon boat dive will not operate.
Therefore, we cannot know in advance whether an afternoon boat dive will operate on a particular future date.
If four or more people make a reservation together, an afternoon boat dive can be arranged.
Important Information When Planning Your Schedule
Scuba diving can be affected by many different variables, so it can be difficult to guarantee exact times.
Please plan your schedule with sufficient flexibility before and after your dive.
Boat Dive Sites
The boat dive sites are generally decided the evening before the dive.
Therefore, it is difficult to tell you the exact dive site for a particular date far in advance.
The actual dive site may also change depending on the preferences of the customers who have made reservations.
If there is a particular dive site you would like to visit, please let us know after making your reservation, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Diving Schedule
A diving schedule is available under the Diving section of our website.
For shore diving, you can generally choose your preferred time.
Private Boat
If you absolutely need to dive at a specific time and visit a specific dive site, you can request a private boat.
The cost is PHP 4,000 per boat for one dive site.

3. Important Information When Diving with Fun Divers
If your group includes both fun divers and Discover Scuba divers, the certified fun diver must choose one of the following two options.
Join the Fun Diving Group
If you join the regular fun diving group, you cannot dive together with the Discover Scuba diver.
The fun diver will participate according to the normal fun diving schedule.
Dive Together with the Discover Scuba Diver
If you want to stay together with the Discover Scuba diver, you will follow the Discover Scuba guide without a separate fun diving guide.
The guide must focus primarily on the Discover Scuba diver.
Therefore, please understand that the guide will not be able to provide dedicated attention or individual assistance to the certified fun diver.
4. Guiding and Language
Guide Ratio
Discover Scuba Diving is normally conducted at a 1:1 ratio.
Depending on the circumstances at the dive site, it may be conducted at a maximum of 2:1.
Language
The standard briefing and guiding are conducted by a Filipino dive guide in English.
We strongly recommend watching a Discover Scuba Diving-related introductory video before coming to the shop.
This will help you understand the basic procedures and make your experience easier.
5. Reservation and Pricing Information
Price
The price is the same for adults and children.
Standard Reservation Method: In-Person Reservation
For the standard reservation method, you must visit the shop and make your reservation by 7:00 PM on the evening before the activity.
Same-Day Walk-in
You may visit the shop without a reservation and it may still be possible to participate.
However, you may experience a very long waiting time, or participation may not be possible depending on availability.
Therefore, we strongly recommend making a reservation in advance.
6. Natural Environment and Marine Life
What You Can See
During shore diving, you may be able to see sardines and turtles.
The area directly in front of our shop is a well-known sardine and turtle dive site.
However, turtles are wild animals, so 100% turtle sightings cannot be guaranteed.
If you go out by boat, sardines and turtles are not present at the boat dive sites.
Sea Conditions
Sea conditions such as:
are natural conditions that cannot be controlled or adjusted by the dive shop.
We appreciate your understanding.
Cancellation and Refunds Due to Natural Disasters
If diving in the Moalboal area becomes impossible due to a natural disaster, such as a typhoon, based on official Philippine government announcements or applicable government guidance, we will provide a full refund.
For other refund situations, please refer to the separate Reservation Instructions and Refund Policy.
Late Arrival
A small delay may be accommodated depending on the circumstances.
However, if you arrive too late, your activity may be cancelled.
The guide has already prepared and waited for you, so a refund will not be provided for the cancelled activity.
Depending on the circumstances, it may be possible to participate during a later time slot.
However, if this is treated as a new activity, a new fee must be paid.
Giving Up the Dive
There is no refund if you decide not to participate for personal reasons, including:
Best Time for Shore Diving
The turtles and sardines directly in front of our shop can generally be observed during the daytime, both in the morning and afternoon.
There is no specific time that can be guaranteed to be better.
Please choose a time that fits your travel schedule.
Generally, there are more people diving in the morning and fewer people in the afternoon.
Therefore, if you prefer a slightly quieter experience, afternoon diving may be more comfortable.
7. GoPro Filming and Rental
Is GoPro Filming Included?
GoPro filming is not included in the program.
Requesting Footage Taken by the Guide
The guide may bring a GoPro or other filming equipment during the dive.
However, this is not an obligatory filming service.
If you would like to receive any footage taken by the guide, please ask our staff after the dive.
Our staff will explain the procedure for obtaining the files.
Please understand that we do not guarantee any GoPro footage.
We cannot guarantee:

If You Definitely Want to Film
If you definitely want to have your dive filmed, please bring your own GoPro and give it to the guide before the dive.

8. Facilities and Information
Luggage Storage
You may leave your luggage at the shop while using our services.
However, we are not responsible for loss or damage.
Please keep valuables separate and inform the manager or staff if necessary.
There are CCTV cameras inside the shop, so footage can be checked if necessary.
Tips
Please put your tip in the tip box.
Please do not give tips directly to individual Divemasters, as this may cause misunderstandings or disputes among staff.
Tips are not mandatory.
You do not have to give a tip.
Electricity and Water
In the Philippines, electricity and water supplies are not always stable.
Therefore, there may be occasions when the water is not available after your dive.
We appreciate your understanding regarding the local environment and conditions.
Pick-up Service
We do not provide pick-up service from accommodations in Moalboal to the dive shop.
However, transportation from Cebu to Moalboal is available.
